About Yuba County
Yuba County is one of California's original 27 counties, formed on February 18, 1850. Named after the Yuba River (from the Maidu village "Yubu"), parts of the county were later given to Placer County in 1851, Nevada County in 1851, and Sierra County in 1852. Marysville was a major supply hub during the Gold Rush.

In Person: Visit the County Clerk-Recorder at 915 8th St, Suite 107, Marysville, CA 95901. Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Most in-person requests are processed the same day or within a few business days.
By Mail: Send a completed application with payment (check or money order) to: 915 8th St, Suite 107, Marysville, CA 95901. Allow 2-4 weeks for processing and delivery.

Recent Births
The county clerk has birth records from 1905 to present through the Clerk-Recorder office. Earlier birth records (from 1853) may be available through county archives.
Yuba County Specifics
Yuba County also offers online vital records ordering through the Health & Human Services Department at yubacavitals.permitium.com in addition to VitalChek. The Clerk-Recorder and Health Department maintain separate vital records systems.
Authorized vs. Informational Copies
Yuba County issues two types of certified birth certificates:
— Authorized copy: Can be used to establish identity (for passports, driver's licenses, etc.). Only available to the person named on the certificate, their parents, legal guardians, or other authorized individuals.
— Informational copy: Marked "Informational, Not a Valid Document to Establish Identity." Available to anyone but cannot be used for identification purposes.
