About Riverside County

Riverside County was created from portions of San Bernardino and San Diego counties in 1893. The county is named after the city of Riverside, which itself was named for its location beside the Santa Ana River. Riverside County saw significant growth during the postwar era and especially in the 1980s and 1990s as housing costs in coastal counties pushed families inland.
